A new chapter in Uganda begins...

After much prayer & godly advice....I made the decision to go on a different Mission trip to Uganda than the Village of Hope trip that I have been going on. It was a tough decision that I struggled over for some time, because I love the children with all my heart. I really felt the Lord telling me He wanted to show me something new this year. SoI obeyed having no idea what was in store. When we trust God, He surpasses what we could even imagine!! And so the story begins... Day #1 After a long trip to the Pearl of Africa, UGANDA! I finally arrived in my rustic and quaint hotel room. As I lay awake in bed, excited about what the next few weeks held... I am giggling as I hear the goats talking. Oh Uganda how I have missed you! As I am coming out of a dream, I hear loud Cow noises.. again, it's like sweet music to my ear... We rise early ready to head to Village #1 for our first day of Clinics. As we are waiting to get on the van to head to the Village.. we meet 3 of the sweets girls! They are our Victory Living Word partners.. I am super excited that I will be serving along side these ladies!
The van ride to the Village was quite exciting. Loved seeing all the children and people. Also realizing that this 45 minute bus right was on a non-paved road the whole way.. it was quite noisy, but needless to say, very entertaining! We had a late start to the clinic, so I was able to play with some of the children. I got to teach them the "King of the Jungle" song.. they picked it up right away and loved it. The Village of Hope Kids were heavy on my heart today.. I am still getting comfortable sharing the gospel beads. I want to make it genuine, but we also have to get them through pretty quickly. I go through them pretty slowly so I am trying to get faster, but I want them to completely understand it. I look them right in the eyes, so they know I am serious about this Jesus I speak of who FORGIVES and SAVES!! I just LOVE our VLW partners that we get to work with. I am SO thankful for the surprises God gives us! I had no idea how wonderful they would be. The verse from today's devo (also in my journal for same day!) If you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain. "Move from here to there." and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you. - Matthew 17:20 Day 2: This morning some of kind of bird was angry about something! I am loving my "Uganda Coffee Delights" I concoct every morning. They are giving me a good jumpstart! As we arrived for Day 2 of Clinics, there were A LOT of people waiting, so we needed to hit the ground running. This morning was a bit discouraging as the tickets we hand out for the clinic got a bit disorganized, but we worked through it. We were not going to allow Satan to intervene this early! As I began to be a little hard on myself, I had to remember that none of this was about me, and God chose me to be here. Period. End of story! ( I only had to remind myself about 10 more times on the trip!:) I had a delicious delicacy of PIG EAR today at lunch. I couldn't believe what my eye had seen! I decided an MRE was what I needed for the next few days! Today, by God's grace, I led many people to Christ & prayed over many! It was a spirit filled day and I was just trying to keep my eyes on the prize and that is Jesus! Our team worked so hard today. I was so proud of everyone! I love how we all come together for HIS glory. I am super excited about what is to come! The kids just make my heart melt. I didn't make VBS my focus this year so God could use me in other areas, but when I wasn't doing VBS, I was dancing and laughing with those kids. They stole my heart DAY 1 (we know that wasn't hard!) I got my hair braided today. It looks super cool ! I wish it could stay like this! I rode home in Pastor Johnson's car and had my life flash before my eyes driving through the jungle at high speed! Quite an exciting ride! I am blown away by this spirit-filled trip already!
